PulseAudio can combine sounds from multiple sources (called mixing). It can change the sound format, increase or decrease sound channels. It can also send the sound of one computer to another computer. PulseAudio is basically a very powerful network based sound server for Linux, Mac OS, and Win32 systems.
You can control your sounds using PulseAudio Volume Control while recording as well. You can find the currently recording controls on the Recording tab of PulseAudio Volume Control app.
Building my sound library takes weeks or months. During this time, I start filling a notebook with ideas, drawings, plans and marginalia, from which a score emerges. I import all my project sound files into the open-source Digital Audio Workstation Ardour, arranging them to loosely resemble the score in my notebook. Once my Ardour session is set up, I move sounds around, try different effects, create new textures by layering, then render and re-import sub-mixes until the piece starts to take shape. I use a KORG nanoKONTROL as a mixing surface. I assign faders, pans and switches assigned to the DAW allowing me to quickly play around with different mix ideas.
Duplicate Detection identifies duplicate samples across your libraries. But it doesn't just detect identical sounds: by leveraging our Similarity Search technology it also looks for sounds that are nearly identical. So if you happen to own a sample pack with .wav and .aiff versions of every sample, you can use Duplicate Detection to streamline things, and potentially free up some disk space in the process..
While analyzing your samples, the software uses machine learning to categorize the content. The default set of categories in Sononym are broadly based around electronic music production and describe distinctive groups of sounds such as 'snare drums' or 'synth pads'. In addition, all sounds are classified as either looped or non-looped (one-shot) sounds.
Picking out sounds of interest and making them available elsewhere should be an effortless thing to do. But wait, isn't that what we have copy-paste for True, but sometimes your project demands that you keep track of the file origin, that certain naming conventions are enforced, etc. In Sononym, this is the purpose of Projects: to bookmark, organize and export in a single workflow.
The sounds that play are determined by the themes you have installed and the ones you are currently using. If your desktop tries to play a sound that your theme doesn't have, it will play a sound from another sound theme if it can find one.
While the login sounds can be helpful, especially if your computer is older and you have to make a sandwich while your computer boots up, they can also be very annoying. If you want to turn them off, make sure you disable both of the login sounds!
Clean up your audio by removing various types of noise. Remove clicks, popping sounds, hums and other background noises that lowers the quality of your sound file. Use the wizard and WavePad will perform the noise reduction automatically.
I've installed Debian on my iMac (from late 2013) which has Intel chipset. Currently I am trying to solve a sound problem, which probably was here since the system is installed. The sound can be played, however from time to time I hear some crackling from the speakers. For example, sometimes while booting, sometimes while switching off the system, and when I open the Audacity (which I installed after I discovered the problem). Additionally, when I play music, the quality of the sound is poor, sounds like a cheap radio or worn out old car speaker (or low compression). When I boot to MacOS that is also installed on this iMac, the sound quality is much better. The audio device is: 8 Series/C220 Series Chipset High Definition Audio Controller
Clicking this button does many things in the background: it creates a new virtual machine (instance), named primary, with 1GB of RAM, 5GB of disk, and 1 CPU; installs the most recent Ubuntu LTS release on that instance; mounts our $HOME directory in the instance; and opens a shell to the instance, announced by the command prompt ubuntu@primary. You can see elements of this in the printout below.

VMPK can help you to change sounds in your MIDI synthesizer, but only if you provide a definition for the synthesizer sounds first. The definitions are text files with the .INS extension, and the same format used by Qtractor (Linux), and Sonar (Windows).
When you select channel 10 on a standard MIDI synth, it plays percussion sounds assigned to many keys but not to all of them. On melodic channels (not channel 10) you can select patches with a limited range of notes. This is known in music as Tessitura. 1e1e36bf2d
